QEII Centre continues push into consumer brand sector with Lancôme event

London’s QEII Centre welcomed Lancôme beauty assistants from across the UK and Ireland to its innovative event space for a three-day training event, as part of its drive to target more fashion and beauty brand events.

The event, which took place from Tuesday 14 to Friday 17 February, saw over 1,000 beauty assistants in attendance for Lancôme’s first ever QEII-hosted event, with the L’Oréal brand inviting delegates from various high-end outlets including Harrods and Selfridges.

Taking over the centre’s versatile third floor, QEII’s Fleming room was used as a conference area whilst the Britten Lounge was used for photography and demonstrations of exciting new products. With its unique double height windows enhancing the natural daylight within the room and with stunning views of the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye, delegates were able to make the most of QEII’s central London location.

Lancôme’s guests also enjoyed an exciting new conference menu recently introduced by QEII Taste chef Jean Michel Viala, with tempting bowl food options including fish and chips with tartare sauce, spinach and ricotta tortellini with truffled Parmesan cream and Gloucestershire beef shin with baby onions, mushrooms, roasted potatoes and red wine sauce.

Elaine Trapp, national retail education manager for Lancôme & Clarisonic UKI said: “Having outgrown the venue we previously used for beauty advisor training events, we were looking for somewhere with a central London location that was easily accessible and that would allow our beauty advisors, travelling from across the UK and Ireland, to see some of the highlights of the city. With the views overlooking the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, QEII was the perfect venue, and we are looking forward to holding many more events there.”

Since its complete rebrand in 2014 and the start of its ongoing £12m capital investment project, the QEII Centre has been expanding its non-core business, with a particular focus on fashion and beauty, awards ceremonies and banqueting events. In the past year the centre has seen an 8% increase in these areas and has hosted a number of fashion and beauty events, including several London Fashion Week runway shows.
