Jude Cosway is our association sales consultant and is attending the Associations Congress in Paris today and tomorrow (28th and 29th April 2014). Here, she shares her experience of the event:
I have been working for the QEIICC for five years as their Association Sales Consultant and have 25 years’ experience in the conference & events sector. I specialise in destination/ venue promotion and the Association market so my main responsibilities are to research and target international and national associations who have conferences for 800-2000 delegates. I work closely with our city convention bureau London & Partners when we bid for international events.
We have been working with Association Network (the organisers of the Associations Congress) for five years now and we have hosted two of the National Association Congresses at the Centre in December 2012 & December 2013.
This is the third International Associations Congress we have attended – in 2012 it was held in Liverpool, and then last year they took it abroad for the first time to Estoril, Portugal. This was a good networking opportunity and a highly successful event for us.
So this year I’m in Paris! Approximately 200 International Associations are attending, and activities commenced last night with a welcome reception at the CNIT congress centre.
I am here to understand the challenges that associations are facing at the moment, to gain a better understanding of how they operate and, of course, to network with conference planners who are attending to ascertain if the QEIICC could be a suitable space for their next event.
I have already met two potential new clients, so I think that the next couple of days will be very fruitful…
