Flower Power: Plastic Pollution

It is estimated that around 2.41 million tons of plastic enter our oceans each year via rivers. Rivers act as a major transport pathway for plastic debris.

Recent research by Green Peace has found that plastic in our rivers could be putting our wildlife in danger.

Seabirds are found with their stomachs full of plastic items, while microplastics are consumed by animals such as plankton, passing the problem back up the food chain.

We want to raise awareness of the negative impact plastic pollution is having through this month’s installation.

This is part of a series of works celebrating nature, sustainability, environmental awareness and craftsmanship.
