Introducing our QEII Taste’s new deputy general manager, Jason Dignam

QEII Taste has been going from strength to strength over the past year and with new deputy general manager Jason Dignam joining us in January, 2016 is already shaping up to be a fantastic year for food at QEII.

Jason has brought a wealth of experience with him to the job, having previously worked at The Royal Albert Hall, The Commonwealth Conference & Event Centre and most recently The Brewery, where he spent 12 years as operations manager.

We’ve been chatting to Jason and checking out his foodie credentials – we know he can run an event catering for hundreds like clockwork, but what food really gets him excited? Is he a master chef in the kitchen at home? Centre Forward finds out…


What’s your earliest food memory?

Mum’s bread and butter pudding.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Fish and chips by the sea.

Do you have a signature dish that you’d cook for a dinner party?

Well I have two girls under 4 – so what’s a dinner party?! Alice and Emma love my fish pie though so that’s the family favourite.

Wine or beer?

Wine with food, beer with friends.

What’s your favourite London restaurant?

Typing Room, in East London’s Town Hall Hotel, for when I want a real treat.

Which country in the world do you think has the best food?

Starter or dessert?

Have you ever had any culinary disasters?

I once sent out the main course before clearing the starting on a dinner for 500 – not my best moment!

What’s going to be the biggest food trend in 2016?

Street food just keeps getting better and chicken is going to be even bigger.

What one retro dish would you love to see back in fashion?

It’d have to be a nostalgic classic – banana split.
