27th Congress of the European Rhinologic Society (ERS) in conjunction with the 37th Congress of the International Society of Inflammation and Allergy of the Nose (ISIAN) and 19th Congress of the International Rhinologic Society (IRS) held at the QEII Centre 22-26 April 2018

Last month saw over 1800 delegates from 86 countries attend the 27th Congress of the European Rhinologic Society (ERS) in conjunction with the 37th Congress of the International Society of Inflammation and Allergy of the Nose (ISIAN) and 19th Congress of the International Rhinologic Society (IRS) at London’s QEII Centre.

Over the five days (22-26 April 2018) specialists including leading medical and surgical rhinologists, ENTs, allergists, immunologists, skull base surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, allergists, primary care physicians, scientists and allied health professionals, attended the world’s leading rhinology congress, known for its engaging sessions given by globally-recognised experts.

Utilising the QEII’s entire 32 flexible event spaces, delegates enjoyed a state-of-the-art programme featuring plenary sessions, symposia, instructional sessions, roundtable discussions, debates and workshops showcasing the very best in rhinology and all its related specialities, from allergy and immunology to facial plastics and oncology, underpinned by medical, surgical and technologic innovation. Live operations were streamed into the main event spaces from London’s Guy’s and St Thomas’ University Hospital, taking advantage of the QEII’s cutting-edge technology and AV facilities.

On the Wednesday evening, organisers also used the centre’s exciting new fifth floor space, featuring stunning views across London’s skyline, for a gala dinner for 280 people featuring a dancefloor and the ENT band. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal of smoked salmon roulade, pepper coulis and pecan to start, followed by braised shin of Gloucestershire beef with parmesan mash and carrot confit and deconstructed Eton mess for dessert – all served by QEII’s in-house caterers, QEII Taste by Leiths.

Susan Hayden, Head of Operations – Association Services, BCD Meetings & Events, who organised the event on behalf of the European Rhinologic Society, said: “Thank you for all the hard work the QEII team put into supporting us in the delivery of the recent European Rhinologic Society conference. We have had excellent feedback from the client and delegates to say that the onsite experience was superb. As usual, the QEII did a fantastic job. Even though we had our inevitable challenges, it all appeared to be seamless and effortless client-facing and the event went very smoothly. Thanks for making us all feel part of one big team!”
