How London is winning big business

Two of London’s leading event venues, the QEII Centre and Central Hall Westminster, have embraced a partnership approach in order to help bring more major international contracts to the heart of the city.

The collaboration has been welcomed by London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s official promotional agency and convention bureau for the city, as the venues provide an attractive offer for large-scale international events looking to come to the centre of London.

Tracy Halliwell, Director of Business Tourism and Major Events at London & Partners said: “It is great to see two of London’s most sought-after venues join forces to provide a unique offer to event planners, combining both high capacity and fantastic central London location. Earlier this year, the 22nd World Congress of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders took place at QEII and Central Hall, the first association event to take place across both venues, and this joint offering was a crucial part of the winning bid. This shows how collaboration can help cities and venues secure high-profile events.”

Mark Taylor, Chief Executive of the QEII Centre said: “A collaborative approach is really key to success when it comes to winning big international business. The QEII Centre has world-class event facilities, and by working with fellow venues we are able to attract more high-profile events to experience this, which not only benefits QEII and the London events industry, but the wider UK economy.”
