The QEII Centre is giving event planners a taste of life in the kitchen with the launch of a brand-new chef’s table tasting room.
QEII’s new tasting room looks directly into the centre’s busy kitchen, which caters for up to 2,500 delegates a day under the guidance of head chef Jean Michel Viala.
Event organisers will now be able to arrange a private menu tasting as part of their event booking at the QEII Centre, with a personal welcome from Jean Michel and an introduction to all the dishes being sampled.
All F&B at the QEII Centre is provided by award-winning in-house caterers QEII Taste by Leiths. QEII Taste offers food that is innovative, fresh, uncomplicated and contemporary, with bespoke menus tailored to meet the needs of every event, from international conventions to glamourous awards dinners.
Jason Dignam, general manager of QEII Taste, said: “The idea behind the tasting room is to showcase the fact we make all our food fresh on-site, and we are really proud of what we produce. We want to show our clients what goes into making their events a success, and being in the kitchen, seeing pastry chefs making biscuits or lunch being plated with precision, really shows the effort the team goes to.”
QEII’s tasting room is open now to all clients booking an event at QEII, and can also be used as a private dining option for clients attending multiple day events.
Mark Taylor, chief executive of the QEII Centre said: “We’ve really prioritised investing in our catering offer to elevate it far beyond that of an average conference centre. In 2016 we employed Jean-Michel Viala as head chef, bringing 5-star experience from The Dorchester to create innovative new conference menus and further our ability to host exciting banqueting events. We’ve also listened to what clients want and updated our menus to provide more flexible dining options, including more vegetarian and healthy choices.”
