Martina Kopecka, Event Manager
Next up in our QE-View series of blogs on life in London is event manager Martina Kopecka. When she’s not busy ensuring all of our events here run seamlessly, Martina, originally from the Czech Republic, loves exploring new places and has plenty of recommendations when it comes to things to see and do in London – although some of the stranger sights you may not want to see repeated…
What do you think makes London special?
Definitely its diversity.
Where is your favourite bar/restaurant?
Spiritual Bar in Camden, with live music every day and great mojitos.
What’s your favourite thing you see on your commute?
My favourite thing about morning commute is when I get off at Westminster and see the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben.
What is the strangest thing you’ve ever come across in London?
A person on a tube clipping their toes…
What was the most unique street performance you’ve seen?
I always enjoy performers in Covent Garden, especially Charlie Chaplin impersonators.
Where’s the most scenic route you know in London for a walk?
I like walking from Mile End to Camden by the canal. On Sundays there is a market in Victoria Park and on Saturdays Broadway Market. Granary Square in King’s Cross is a great place as well.
Is there somewhere you would recommend to visitors as a ‘hidden gem’ in London?
The Vaults – they are railway arches full of street art in Waterloo.
