Meet Our New Joiners

Over the last twelve months, the QEII Centre has successfully recruited several new faces across the business. The new team members have come from a mix of backgrounds, including the events industry and have settled in really well alongside our knowledgeable, experienced staff teams.

With 10 members of staff having more than 20 years’ experience at the QEII and an average length of service of 13 years, the new team members have had great support in getting to know the QEII and learning about our customer-centric approach.

We find out from two of our most recent joiners Daniel and Vittorio, about how they found out about the QEII Centre, what their roles involves and their ambitions for the future at the QEII.

Daniel Olufuwa, Event Manager

How did you first learn about the QEII Centre?

I learnt about the QEII Centre though the internet, but I have come across the building many times passing it whilst in Westminster and seeing it in various news reports

How long have you been at the QEII Centre?

I have been in my role, just over three months

What does your role involve?

My role involves liaising with clients as well as other departments to ensure their requirements are met and ready for the day of the event. I also oversee the event day, dealing with any queries, requests, issues or concerns that may arise and handling them swiftly.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy seeing everything come together and making clients happy

What is on your wish list for the next few years at the QEII?

I would like to see all the different type of events that come through our doors and then have a chance to work on them. I am also keen to use these experiences to progress my career.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a new joiner?

I would say that it is important to not be afraid to ask questions regardless of how silly it may sound. It is also important to spend time with other departments and understand their roles as it will help you do yours better.

Vittorio Esposito, Junior Sales Account Manager

How did you first learn about the QEII Centre?

Word of mouth, I heard about the job from an old colleague and applied for the job!

How long have you been at the QEII Centre?

I have been here just over two months and the time has flown by!

What does your role involve?

I work as an Account Manager, dealing predominantly with new accounts and enquiries, with the ultimate goal of transforming enquiries and interest shown by clients to the QEII Centre into bookings.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy when enquiries translate into bookings, and the systematic process that takes place from replying to the initial enquiries to the actual contracting of the spaces in our venue.

What is on your wish list for the next few years at the QEII?

Firstly, I would love to get promoted and become an Account Manager. Then I would like to continue to deal with a variety of accounts at the same time, developing my organisational, multitasking and customer service skills.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a new joiner?

I would advise them to listen carefully to all the information and direction provided by senior staff and to ask as many questions as possible.
