QEII celebrates leading women in technology

Leading central London venue The QEII Centre has helped celebrate the leading women working in technology as host of the TechWomen100 Awards.

Designed to support and champion females who are carving careers in the field of technology, the awards, which are run by website WeAreTechWomen and took place on 23 January, recognise 100 women working in technology who will become TechWomen100 winners.

Awards were also presented for Gender Champion of the Year, Company of the Year and Women’s Network of the Year. WeAreTechWomen also presented an Editor’s Choice Award to an individual who has had a significant impact on the industry.

The TechWomen100 awards have grown significantly since they started life as TechWomen50 in 2017. Attended by managing directors, CEOs and women accelerating their careers from across different business sectors, they remain the only awards to recognise such a large number of women working in technology.

WeAreTechWomen chose QEII as the venue for its growing awards due to the centre’s ‘iconic’ status, central London location and track record in delivering world class events.

Following a Champagne reception in QEII’s first floor Pickwick room, attendees moved to QEII’s largest space, the Churchill room, for a three-course dinner prepared by award-winning in-house caterers QEII Taste before the awards were presented.

Vanessa Vallely, Managing Director of WeAreTechWomen, said: “I am so proud to be hosting our third TechWomen100 awards at the iconic QEII centre. Our 2019 winners join a phenomenal alumni of 150 previous winners who continue to soar, both professionally and personally.

“It has been a truly amazing evening – made possible with the help of the QEII team – and I am ecstatic to welcome our 2019 winners to the WeAreTechWomen family.”

QEII’s event manager, Anish Bhavsar, said: “We were delighted to host the TechWomen100 awards as we have a track record of working with high-profile technology events, including QCON, Devops and NDC London.

“Thanks to our continued investment, we have also made a number of innovative improvements to our own technology offering over the last year including to connectivity and enhancing sound and lighting, to further improve the service for clients.”
