Recycling week comment

Alan Shilstone, Events Soft Services Manager at The QEII Centre, said: “At The QEII Centre, we are committed to driving measurable sustainability outcomes across all our operations. In 2024, our recycling initiatives delivered a significant environmental benefit, saving 301 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. We work with a trusted sustainable waste partner to ensure that any materials requiring recycling are managed responsibly, with zero waste sent to landfill.

“Sustainability is also embedded in our everyday choices. We have collected 5,000 coats for Wrap Up London since 2018. We reduce food waste by reusing offcuts and composting plate waste. We’ve been 7 years plastic-free, and we’ve switched to 100% recycled, unbleached paper products.

“These initiatives form part of our organisation’s wide-ranging sustainability programme, which has already made substantial progress.”
